Brandywine

36″ x 36″ Acrylic and Gold Leaf on Canvas

During my travels throughout the rural areas of the Eastern United States, I was always struck by the beauty and uniqueness of the huge quilts I saw painted on the sides of barns. After doing a bit of research I found that this is a tradition that is hundreds of years old, not only in the East, but in the Mid-West as well. In my deconstructed barn quilt paintings, I’ve taken the shapes that are typically found in a barn quilt and trimmed and rearranged them to create my own abstract interpretation in paint on canvas. This piece is name after the beautiful and bucolic Brandywine Valley in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

The painting continues around the sides of the canvas making it ready to hang and has been signed on the back so that the collector may display it in any orientation desired.
